Our customer is a leading global provider of automated machinery and packaging solutions, specializing in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, and consumer goods. We design and manufacture cutting-edge automation systems for packaging, processing, and inspection, helping our customers enhance efficiency and productivity.
We are seeking experienced Software Engineer for a contract role responsible for commissioning automation systems in a software capacity. You will be integral in developing, testing, and optimizing software solutions that push the boundaries of automation. Your expertise will directly contribute to the successful deployment of machines, ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and modify PLC software, vision applications, robot applications, motion applications, and HMI/visualization systems.
- Utilize Siemens TIA V19 (including Safety), Siemens WinCC Unified HMI, Motion/Servo drives, PackML, Keyence Vision, and Staubli robots (desirable, not essential).
- Ensure software designs comply with the Machine Directive (BS EN 12100) and meet safety standards.
- Collaborate with the project team to create design documentation, including I/O lists, FDS, SDI, SDS, HDS, and FAT/SAT test documents.
- Provide commissioning support on customer sites (both UK and overseas) and assist with post-installation support.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring designs align with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality software by verifying outputs in collaboration with Senior Engineers.
- Communicate project status effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and provide data for project performance evaluation.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience in electrical or mechatronic engineering.
- Proficient in Rockwell platforms (RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk) and Siemens programming platforms (TIA Portal, Step 7).
- Experience with robotics integration into automation solutions (Staubli robots, or similar).
- Experience with integration of vision systems, servo drives, and process automation.
Qualifications:
- Apprentice-trained in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
- HNC, HND, or BSc in a relevant engineering discipline.
