RM Recruit are working in collaboration with a Staffordshire based Multi Academy Trust to recruit an interim Project Accountant to focus on a range of finance process improvement projects. With a duration of 12 - 18 months, this role will see you support the Finance Director at a sizable trust that has seen consistent growth to reach a family of 20 + academies. Now they are seeking to consolidate their end to end finance process to allow for future stable expansion.

Your remit will include, but not be limited to:

  • Development of a new Purchase Order process which will feed into the implementation of Sage Intacct followed by the subsequent training of individual school teams
  • Collaborative working with the Management Accounting team to move towards automatically populated and wide ranging management reports and KPIs
  • Work with the Data team to create standard dashboards across the Trust as to deliver flash reports on individual academies
  • The development of processes to improve reporting against internal KPIs and standardising targets across all academies
  • Lead on the project to create a consistent financial onboarding process for amalgamating new schools into the trust accounting structure
  • Development and roll out of a finance function SharePoint site to allow access to all data and resources to be available for all stakeholders
  • The creation of internal process handbooks that will reflect real-time progress of projects. Subsequent training of the finance function at all seniority levels.
  • Create, develop and maintain a new strategic planning tool for the Trust as a whole and individual academies
  • Leading a team of 4 members of staff who will be seconded onto the range of projects

The successful candidate must be fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/ACMA) or due to achieve qualified status by the end of 2024. Unfortunately we are unable to consider those qualified by experience or who have lapsed in their studies. Academy Trust sector experience is desirable but not essential. Whatever your sector background, you will be able to demonstrate finance project experience in complex business environments and be passionate regarding finance process improvements.

This role will operate on a hybrid working model.
