Our client that is headquartered in the Tamworth area is looking for an experienced Project Design Manager to join their fun and vibrant team due to continued business growth. This role can offer hybrid working, where you will be located in the Tamworth office, onsite or working from home.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Lead client design management, maintaining clear alignment with requirements during the design phase.
  • Develop and support trainee project engineers, offering mentorship and training through the design phase.
  • Create and manage design programmes and outputs.
  • Manage design changes, scope drift, variations, and deviations from specifications.
  • Oversee the creation and development of models, calculations, drawings, sketches, and schedules.
  • Manage all digital design aspects, ensuring full control of design information.
  • Ensure full compliance with the client's BIM Execution plans and managing BIM deliverables.
  • Oversee project IRS schedules and RFIs, ensuring they are closed out and controlled for programme and cost implications.
  • Control CDM and H&S requirements with a focus on safe construction practices.
  • Support the Pre-Construction team in developing Stage 3 deliverables during the early stages.
  • Communicate objectives clearly to all team members, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Facilitate key stage Design Review meetings.
  • Support the commercial function with managing change and scope drift.
  • Attend all project team meetings, providing design progress and quality conformance reports.
  • Establish the project design delivery strategy in collaboration with the stakeholders.
  • Issue weekly design reports, covering all aspects of delivery, including status, blockers, issues, and resource plans.
  • Issue weekly design output trackers, programme updates, and resource plans.
  • Oversee the design teams to ensure thorough checks of all documents prior to release.
  • Ensure all model data is accurate and reviewed for completeness across all platforms.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience managing a design team and the design process, applying commercial, programme, and technical expertise.
  • Strong understanding of client requirements and advising them on their design obligations.
  • Expertise in ensuring the design process adheres to current legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing BIM strategy and best practices.
  • Ability to maintain the quality of design information and ensure it aligns with project timelines.
  • Commitment to eliminating Health and Safety risks in the design process.
