Job Purpose

The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual aspects of projects within the brick and cladding division. Working closely with the Sales Director this role involves managing pricing strategies, contract negotiations, supplier relationships, and ensuring profitability. The Commercial Manager plays a key role in risk management, business development, and financial forecasting to drive sustainable growth.

A background in construction and knowledge of cladding and backing systems would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of a commercial manager are:

Technical Knowledge & Role Requirements

Strategic & Financial Management

Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve business growth and profitability.

Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for senior management.

Monitor project costs, margins, and overall financial performance.

Contract Management & Negotiation

Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and mitigate financial risks.

Manage variations, claims, and contract disputes effectively.

Business Development & Sales Support

Identify new business opportunities and develop client relationships.
Support sales teams with pricing strategies and cost estimations.
Work with marketing teams to enhance the companys market presence.

Supplier & Procurement Management

Oversee procurement strategies to secure competitive pricing and quality materials.

Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet project deadlines.

Risk & Compliance Management

Assess and manage commercial risks associated with contracts and projects.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and legal requirements.

Implement financial controls to protect company interests.
