RM Recruit are working in collaboration with a Staffordshire based Multi Academy Trust to recruit a Management Accounting Finance Manager for their team. Our client a sizable trust that has seen consistent growth to reach a family of 25 academies. They are undertaking a period of wholesale positive change in their finance function via a multitude of improvement projects including a Sage systems upgrade

This newly created role will provide leadership to the finance team during these projects to empower team members to have full involvement in reducing month-end timetables, standardising management accounting across all schools/cost centres and improving the accuracy of the end to end financial process.

Your remit will include, but not be limited to:

  • Monthly management control and reporting for all costs associated with every school and corporate overhead in the Trust
  • Full ownership of the provision of accurate monthly management accounts to set timetables whilst aiming to reduce the time taken each month to finalise their delivery
  • Act as a key contact between Heads, Senior Staff and other Finance team members to ensure that the management accounts are supported by the financial accounts and deliver accurate reports on the financial performance of each individual academy in the trust
  • Development and implementation of financial improvement plans for individual academies acting as the key point of liaison
  • Development of trust-wide variance analysis and KPIs processes that are communicated and adhered to by finance and non-finance team members
  • Responsibility for the delivery of budgets, forecasts and strategic plans whilst maintaining a high profile within finance and beyond
  • Ensuring data integrity at all times between Sage and IMP
  • Regular and consistent liaison with all schools within the trust and build upon existing relationships with all key non-finance stakeholders.
  • Overseeing a team of 12 team members to include 1-2-1 management and career development

The successful candidate will be fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/ACMA) or activity studying and possess confident team management experience. Academy Trust sector experience is not essential but a background of working across multiple cost centres is highly desirable. Whatever your sector background you will be able to demonstrate proven management accounting experience with a focus on forward planning and best in class finance business partnering. Sage 200 or Sage Intacct experience would be an advantage, particularly around implementations.
