Quality Technician (CMM)

Shifts: Double Days: 1st week Morning shift 05:50 - 14:00 (Mon-Thurs) 05:50 -12:40 (Fri)

2nd week 13:50 - 22:15 (Mon-Thurs) 12:30 -18:20 (Fri)

Salary: Up To £40k-£42k annually plus 20% shift allowance per hour

The Company:

A global manufacturer specialising in precision engineered parts for the automotive industry.

Quality Technician Responsibilities:

Operate CMM machine using established programs, as well as creating new programs using PCDMIS software.

  • Perform dimensional inspection on product using CMM, Verniers, micrometres and height gauges.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection on product per procedures.
  • Perform first off inspection and in-process inspections.
  • Perform Equipment TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance).

Develop and modify CMM measurement programs using appropriate software. Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create accurate measurement routines.

Essential Skills of a Quality Technician:

  • Ability to effectively read and understand drawings, engineering documents, purchase orders, inspection manuals and procedures.
  • Strong background programming and operating coordinate measuring machines using PC-DMIS software.
  • Strong metrology, drawing reading, and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Must be familiar with AS9102 Form and First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Must have practical experience performing in-process and final inspections.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of related aerospace ISO and AS requirements.
  • Must have experience using various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometres and verniers.

Desirable Skills of a Quality Technician:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience programming/ operating CMMs and performing inspection in Aerospace and/or Military/Defence Manufacturing environment.
