Media Relations Executive

Our Tamworth based client is looking for a Media Relations Executive to join their team on a permanent basis.

This exciting new role reports directly to the Marketing Manager and sits within a dynamic in-house team responsible for delivering Marketing, Communications, and Design services across the group of companies. As a Media Relations Executive, you will play a key role in supporting the group's communications strategy, working closely with the Media Relations Manager and Marketing Manager. You'll have the opportunity to shape how the company is represented across industry media platforms, identifying and leveraging opportunities to enhance the group's reputation and build its brand identity.

As a Media Relations Executive, you will need to have/be:

  • Experience of working in a media relations role
  • Excellent copywriting skills with proven ability to produce quality content with a focus on products and feature material within trade media
  • Well organised, reliable and hardworking, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confident and able to form relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally and able to demonstrate strong verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic to continuously improve knowledge and skills
  • Experience working within a construction/electrical industry
  • Experience with crisis management and recovery experience as well as knowledge of managing reputational risk issues
  • Proactive in finding new stories to support the business and brand development
  • Understanding the trade media landscape

  • Salary: 30, 000 - 35, 000
  • Working Hours: Full Time/40 hours Monday - Friday

Role of Media Relations Executive:

  • Develop and implement proactive and reactive media relations plans to enhance and protect the company's reputation.
  • Create high-quality content with a focus on trade media in the electrotechnical industry to include articles (thought leadership articles, feature content, technical pieces), product releases, business news, case studies, web stories and award submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to identify compelling stories and case studies for publication.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key trade media contacts to secure impactful coverage.
  • Maintain up-to-date media lists and pitch stories to relevant journalists to maximize coverage.
  • Monitor media coverage for the Group as well as tracking competitor activity.
  • Identify opportunities to publish positive content that strengthens the company's brand and reputation.
  • Manage the press office, ensuring timely responses to media inquiries and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Work closely with Internal Communications, Social Media, and Marketing teams to coordinate and align messaging across the business.
  • Support digital content creation as needed to maintain consistency across platforms.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and updates to identify new opportunities and insights.
  • Proofread and assist with copywriting for company literature, website content, and other collateral.
  • Ensure all materials adhere to brand, campaign, and tone-of-voice guidelines.
