Oakley Recruitment is working in partnership with an expanding organisation based in Tamworth. This is an excellent opportunity to join the team as a IT Infrastructure Manager on a full-time permanent basis

Package and benefits

  • Monday to Friday 9:00am 5:30pm

Pension

  • 3% employer contribution, 4% employee contribution, 1% tax relief, pensions advisor to visit the site twice a year

Holiday Entitlement

  • 23 days holiday plus 8 statutory bank holidays. After 3 years service this increases to 24 days plus BH and at 6 years service it increases again to a maximum of 25 days plus BH.
  • After completing 6-month probationary period, all employees are entitled to up to 5 days unpaid annual leave in addition to their paid allowance. This is pro-rata in the first part year, following probation.

Job Role:

  • Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and maintain a visible, approachable presence across all locations, working closely with departments to understand their IT needs and deliver proactive solutions. Contribute IT expertise in management meetings to drive business objectives.
  • IT Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day IT operations, including servers, software, networks, and IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal system performance. Coordinate installations, upgrades, and regular maintenance to support business continuity.
  • Procurement & Implementation: Manage the procurement of hardware and software, ensuring effective testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems to meet business demands.
  • Network & Security Management: Manage WAN infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity across locations. Implement and maintain robust security measures, proactively addressing vulnerabilities through regular updates and patching to meet industry standards.
  • Disaster Recovery & Risk Management: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup plans, ensuring business continuity in the event of system failure. Regularly test recovery plans and mitigate IT risks to minimize disruptions.
  • Project Leadership: Lead large-scale IT infrastructure projects, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery while aligning project goals with business needs. Collaborate with teams to ensure IT strategies are executed effectively.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation and tracking of resources to support long-term IT infrastructure growth.
  • Vendor & Contract Management: Build strong relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs) to maintain quality IT services.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor IT teams, fostering technical excellence and career development to enhance team capabilities and performance.
  • Helpdesk & User Support: Oversee Helpdesk operations to ensure timely issue resolution and maintain high user satisfaction levels across the organisation.
  • Technology Innovation & Optimization: Stay abreast of emerging technology trends and implement innovations to continuously optimise IT operations and align infrastructure with evolving business needs.

Skills and experience:

  • Strong leadership, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience building and mentoring high-performing teams with a focus on accountability and collaboration
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when needed.
  • Proficient in networking, including administration, installation, and troubleshooting (CCNA level preferred)
  • Experience with enterprise networking solutions (Cisco, Fortinet, Rukus), focusing on performance and security
  • Knowledge of network configurations like VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and QoS for high-availability environments
  • Strong understanding of hardware, cabling, wireless tech, and IT security protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with server infrastructure, RAID, and SAN/NAS storage systems
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG) to ensure system performance.
  • Proficient with Windows Server (2012-2025), Exchange Online, and Azure AD for system management
  • Experience with Office 365, Windows OS, and Intune/JAMF administration.
  • Familiar with virtualisation platforms like Hyper-V, VMware, and cloud solutions (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Experience with VoIP systems, IP CCTV, and backup/recovery tools like Veeam.
  • Strong knowledge of disaster recovery solutions, security standards, and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR)
  • Familiar with SIEM tools (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel) and Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS)
  • Skilled in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Experience with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Fresh Service) for managing IT support
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects
  • MCSE, ITIL, and CCNA or equivalent certifications required
  • CISSP, ISO 27001, and PRINCE2 certifications are desirable
