Purchasing & Logistics Specialist

Join a close-knit team near Tamworth as a Purchasing and Logistics Specialist! We're seeking someone who loves being a key player in a small, dynamic team, contributing significantly to a family-feel company.

In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining precise inventory levels and supporting the Transport Manager with logistics. You'll excel in an SME environment, where your hands-on approach will be highly valued. Prior experience with implementing a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) is essential.

Key Responsibilities:Inventory Management:

  • Ensure the right type and quantity of stock is available for sales orders, considering stock turnover and cash flow maintaining stock accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures to optimise stock levels and minimise waste.
  • Monitor and analyse inventory movements to forecast future demand and adjust stock levels accordingly.
  • Conduct weekly random inventory checks.
  • Maintain minimum stock levels and reorder quantities in the software system.
  • Manage maximum stock quantities to avoid tying up capital and evaluate deadstock to release tied-up capital.

Logistics Support:

  • Oversee route planning for delivery drivers, ensuring efficient and cost-effective routes and managing any changes to the schedule.
  • Supervise yard and warehouse personnel, ensuring operational efficiencies and conducting second checks on loads leaving the yard.
  • Analyse delivery costs and recommend more cost-effective routes.
  • Investigate and resolve delivery issues, liaising with internal departments such as sales and accounts.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in purchasing direct materials, stock control and logistics.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic SME environment.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to "roll up sleeves."
  • Experience with WMS implementation.
