Fleet Operations Manager£40,000 - £50,000 per yearMonday - Friday, 09:00am - 17:30pmJoin a dynamic international logistics company in Tamworth as an experienced Fleet Operations Manager, where you will lead and manage a team ensuring the smooth operation of fleet activities.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and represent the fleet department.
  • Supervise and guide a team of fleet administrators working across varying shifts.
  • Ensure all administrative tasks are completed within set deadlines.
  • Set goals, provide constructive feedback, and hold regular performance evaluations.
  • Encourage a proactive and innovative approach within the admin team.
  • Oversee and manage fleet-related insurance claims from initiation to resolution.
  • Work closely with the Insurance Manager and insurers to secure prompt claim settlements, maximising recovery for both at-fault and non-fault cases.
  • Serve as the main contact for all fleet-related insurance matters, ensuring accurate and timely claim handling.
  • Manage fleet-related systems, including internal databases and government platforms.
  • Oversee fleet activities, implementing improvements where necessary to enhance performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Manage the operational fleet list, aligning it with the financial asset register.
  • Draft and contribute to fleet-related business documents such as project reports, vehicle specifications, asset disposal papers, and monthly updates.
  • Collect and analyse fleet performance metrics, producing reports to track trends and identify areas for improvement.
  • Generate monthly reports and update key performance indicators (KPIs), supporting corrective measures as needed.
  • Assist in setting budget targets for major suppliers and monitor expenditure.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers and collaborate with finance teams to maintain cost controls.
  • Review monthly spending to optimise cost management and reduce unnecessary purchase orders.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to save costs within the fleet department and the broader business.
  • Promote collaboration between the Fleet team and other departments such as Finance, Operations, Transport, and Compliance.
  • Maintain strong communication with both internal and external stakeholders to align with business goals.
Experience Required:
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Solid experience in logistics or transport operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work closely with operational and senior management teams.
  • Experience prioritising daily tasks and maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Capable of communicating effectively with suppliers and stakeholders in a constructive and professional manner.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues to balance workloads and meet business demands.
  • Knowledge of fleet management software is a plus.
  • Fleet or engineering experience is beneficial.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and produce KPIs and reports for senior management.
