A major client with a long history in cable manufacturing based in North Birmingham are recruiting for a Product Engineer on days on a permanent basis.Salary:£40,000 to £50,000 (DOE)Plus company benefits on applicationMain Purpose of RoleWork within a professional Project Team to deliver product from Concept to Production.Execute Engineering tasks as defined in the company's product development process to meet schedule, budget, and specificationsMain Duties:
  • Analyze and interpret the customer requirements to determine feasibility of product proposal.
  • To develop and design the product or part from the first idea through the design process and the validation phase until the product is implemented in production.
  • To work in accordance with the defined design process and to observe given legislation, directives and concessions which may affect the given area of design.
  • To be responsible for developing and establishing layout and packing models, CAD drawings for prototypes and serial production.
  • To ensure that the products meet all relevant specifications and are designed for assembly under normal serial production conditions
  • Working directly with the customer and the Product Engineering team, communicating technical requirements and customer desirables.
  • Support customer builds when needed.
  • In co-operation with test and validation department to ensure that test specifications and methods are correct and correspond to customer's expectations.
  • Working within a Cross Functional Team, complete required deliverables identified by the Project Manager / Team to comply with the project Cost, Quality & Delivery expectations.
  • Execute all other reasonable duties as requested by the R&D Manager
Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • BS Degree in Mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Product Engineering
  • Skilled practitioner in Catia or equivalent 3D modelling software and PLM
  • Good working knowledge of computer systems; MS office, MS Project, MRP
  • LEAN principles / Business Improvement Techniques
  • Plastic Injection Moulded and die cast part design experience
  • Second language
