Media Relations ExecutiveLocation: Tamworth - Office based Salary: £30,000-£35,000 About the Role:SF Recruitment are supporting a manufacturing business based in Tamworth to recruit a Media Relations Executive. This role reports directly to the Marketing Manager and is part of a dynamic in-house team responsible for delivering Marketing, Communications, and Design services across a group of companies. As a Media Relations Executive, you will play a key role in supporting the group's communications strategy, working closely with the Media Relations Manager and Marketing Manager. You'll have the opportunity to shape how the company is represented across industry media platforms, identifying and leveraging opportunities to enhance the group's reputation and build its brand identity. Main Duties:

  • Develop and implement proactive and reactive media relations plans to enhance and protect the company's reputation.
  • Create high-quality content for various channels, including press releases, case studies, thought leadership articles, web stories, and award submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to identify compelling stories and case studies for publication.
  • Identify opportunities to publish positive content that strengthens the company's brand and reputation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry media and journalists to secure impactful coverage.
  • Manage the press office, ensuring timely responses to media inquiries and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Monitor media mentions to safeguard the company's reputation and respond to potential risks proactively.
  • Work closely with Internal Communications, Social Media, and Marketing teams to coordinate and align messaging across the business.
  • Support digital content creation as needed to maintain consistency across platforms.
  • Maintain up-to-date media lists and pitch stories to relevant journalists to maximize coverage.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and updates to identify new opportunities and insights.
  • Proofread and assist with copywriting for company literature, website content, and other collateral.
  • Ensure all materials adhere to brand, campaign, and tone-of-voice guidelines.
  • Attend monthly planning meetings to align communications strategies with business objectives.

Skills and Experience: Essential:

  • 2 years' experience in a media relations role.
  • Excellent copywriting skills with proven ability to produce quality content across multiple channels.
  • Well-organized, reliable, and hardworking individual, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident and able to form relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally, demonstrating strong verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic about continuously improving knowledge and skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with crisis management and recovery, as well as knowledge of managing reputational risk issues.
  • Proactive in finding new stories.
  • Understanding of the media landscape.
