Job Purpose

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for brick and cladding projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of cladding, backing systems and project requirements in the construction industry. The Estimator collaborates closely with sales, procurement, and project management teams to deliver reliable estimates and support business growth.

A background in construction and knowledge of cladding and backing systems would be beneficial.

Reports to: Commercial Director/Senior Leadership Team


Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of an estimator are:

Technical Knowledge

In-depth understanding of brick and cladding materials, construction methods, and industry standards.

Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Familiarity with CRM systems and project management tools.

Knowledge of procurement processes, supplier pricing, and market trends in the construction industry.

Role Requirements

Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.

Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to obtain accurate pricing for materials and labour.

Ensure estimates align with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.

Collaborate with the sales team to develop competitive bids and proposals.

Maintain and update a database of material costs, labour rates, and supplier information.

Review and compare subcontractor quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.

Assist in the handover of successful bids to the project management team.

Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes for efficiency and accuracy.
