Supply Chain Manager

Our Tamworth based client is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to join their team.

Your role will be to manage and oversee the timely delivery of all goods and services required by the business. Coordinate the planning team to ensure purchase orders are placed in good time, delivery is expedited as required, and live inventory stocks are managed in line with business demands.

As a Supply Chain Manager, you will need to have/be:

  • Skilled in managing relationships across Customer Services, Commercial, Logistics, Warehouse, and Suppliers to oversee supply chain responsibilities.
  • Experienced in matrix organisational structures and supply chain capacity monitoring to ensure product availability in the warehouse.
  • Proficient in organising and prioritising personal and team workflows effectively.
  • Knowledgeable in booking and managing inbound logistics via Air, Sea, or Land and the associated processes.
  • Familiar with import documentation, duties, port operations, and freight forwarding procedures.
  • Adept at supplier relationship management to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Commercially astute with a clear understanding of supply chain impacts on business operations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate system data for quality reporting and analysis of complex datasets.
  • A flexible, adaptable, and team-oriented individual with a proactive and creative problem-solving approach.
  • Competent in managing GDPR-compliant documentation and supporting other departments with required information.
  • Strong Excel, numerical, and analytical skills.

Role of Supply Chain Manager:

  • Support the Procurement Director in setting annual objectives for the function and producing accurate monthly progress reports.
  • Manage the Supply Chain Team, including Inbound Logistics, by assigning clear roles, responsibilities, and objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate placement of purchase orders, expediting deliveries as required to meet business demand.
  • Oversee the planning and booking of land, air, and sea freight, coordinating deliveries to warehouses within resource constraints.
  • Maintain accurate records on supply chain platforms, including goods in transit, container status, and estimated arrival times.
  • Act as a 'Super User' for stock forecasting tools such as Slimstock and Epicor.
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Procurement teams on new product introductions and range amendments.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet business needs, including Customer Services, Warehouses, and Suppliers.
  • Participate in forecasting discussions with Commercial, Sales, and Marketing teams, aligning supply chain activities with promotions.
  • Address delays, shortages, and capacity issues, providing timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Develop management reports and metrics, including stock-out statistics and stock balance changes.
  • Ensure documentation complies with GDPR and supports other departments like Commercial, Finance, and Quality.
  • Monitor supplier performance against service level agreements and arrange pre-shipment inspections and audits.
  • Stay informed about changes in legislation or import tariffs, sharing relevant updates with stakeholders.
  • Review supplier capacity regularly to optimise supply chain planning and support team efficiency.
  • Ensure supply chain team members are well-trained, cohesive, and focused on reducing duplication and waste.
