Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our client, a civil engineering contractor, is seeking to strengthen its team by appointing an Operations Manager on a permanent basis, based in West Lothian. This role involves overseeing the operational requirements of the business while also playing a key role in developing client relationships and identifying new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the execution of all projects.
  • Prepare Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and other project documentation.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of a variety of civil engineering projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate site managers and supervisors.
  • Plan and execute work programmes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team, ensuring safe and efficient working practices.
  • Monitor project progress, resolve any site issues, and manage resources effectively.
  • Work closely with senior management, engineers, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Liaise with clients and company directors regarding project progress.
  • Identify variations and any additional scope required.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to secure future work.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer or Sub-Agent working on civil engineering projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams in a construction or civil engineering environment.
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and excellent attention to detail.
  • A solid understanding of civil engineering principles, supported by relevant qualifications (Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Experience in managing projects from inception to completion.
  • A valid CSCS card and, ideally, a Site Manager’s or Project Manager’s qualification (e.g. SMSTS).
  • Full UK driving licence.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior Site Engineer or Sub-Agent with a strong understanding of procurement and team management, looking to take the next step in their career.
