We are seeking a visionary General Manager to lead the next chapter for The Mount Somerset Hotel. Youll manage the complete refurbishment of our 17-room property and drive the success of our fine dining restaurant. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hospitality leader with experience in start-ups and project management to shape the hotels transformation into an award-winning destination.

We are seeking a driven and visionary General Manager to lead the next phase for The Mount Somerset Hotel. This unique opportunity involves managing the complete refurbishment of our 17-bedroom property and the day-to-day running of our fine dining restaurant, which seats 100 covers and is comparable to a 2-rosette rating. Youll be tasked with developing a long-term proposition for our F&B offerings while delivering exceptional guest service and overseeing the growth of the hotel.

What will the role involve?

  • Lead the hotels refurbishment, preserving its historic charm while ensuring luxury standards.
  • Oversee daily operations of the hotel and fine dining restaurant, delivering consistent, high-quality service.
  • Manage a team of 15-20 staff, fostering a positive and high-performance culture.
  • Develop high guest satisfaction, focusing on service excellence.
  • Drive the financial performance of the business, including financial reporting.
  • Develop and enhance the restaurants offerings, focusing on accessibility and quality.
  • Collaborate with owners to align hotel development with our vision of luxury and sustainability.

Shape a compelling proposition for events (MICE: Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) such as wine tastings, car shows, and local gatherings etc.

Who are we looking for? You may have a variety of the below:

  • Proven boutique or independent hotel experience managing start-up projects and refurbishments in the hospitality industry.
  • Hands-on operational experience in managing a restaurant and bar, preferably with fine dining expertise.
  • Strong business acumen and marketing capability to drive the hotel's growth.
  • Strong project management skills and a passion for preserving historical integrity in luxury settings.
  • Excellent leadership abilities with experience managing teams
  • Dedication to delivering a professional yet relaxed and welcoming guest experience. Someone emotionally invested in transforming a historic boutique property into an award-winning destination.
