The Commissioning Engineer - Dedicated I&C Systems will be a member of one of the five I&C Commissioning Delivery teams, reporting to a Senior Engineer. This team's scope includes I&C systems dedicated to a wide range of functions, including fire detection, radiation monitoring, lifting and fuel handling, plant condition monitoring, process automation etc.
The main activities for the role are to:
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the allocated systems
- Develop and review documentation relating to commissioning and system validation activities
- Contribute to detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests
- Join or lead a team of commissioning engineers and technicians to take part in the execution of site commissioning activities including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems
- Analyse commissioning results and produce reports summarising the outcome of commissioning
- Ensure that the commissioning process meets nuclear, environmental and industrial safety regulatory requirements and that it reflects best international practice for safety and technical excellence
Skills
Essential
- A technical qualification (Degree preferred) in a relevant discipline
- Strong engineering background with experience of working with complex I&C systems in an industrial environment
- Enthusiastic and keen to share knowledge with colleagues
- Able to challenge and to accept challenge in a positive manner
- Comfortable in a dynamic and multi-cultural environment
- Understands the need for technical and administrative rigour in the nuclear industry and always works to maintain safety and quality
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop and maintain relationships both internally and with external partners
Desirable
- Specific knowledge of at least one of the following PLC systems; Siemens S7, Schneider m580
- Knowledge and experience of industrial networks supporting monitoring and automation systems
- Good understanding of site work in a complex new build or upgrade environment (procedures, commissioning, operations, maintenance)
- Experience of leading a technical team
