Join our team as a Facilities Maintenance Assistant, where you will be instrumental in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of public facilities, including toilets and pavilions. This role is crucial for ensuring that our town's standards of environmental and community safety, cleanliness, and well-being are upheld.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Regularly perform unlocking/locking, cleaning, inspection, and minor repairs of public toilets, pavilions, and other assets.
  • Maintain the day-to-day functionality and cleanliness of public toilets and their immediate surroundings to ensure they are in the best condition for public use.
  • Address issues such as graffiti, vandalism, flyposting, and general untidiness to maintain a good standard.
  • Conduct routine planned maintenance and compliance tasks, including temperature checks, flushing of water outlets, and emergency light checks.
  • Identify and address areas affected by fly tipping and littering, reporting larger issues to the appropriate authorities.
  • Collaborate with the team to prioritize workloads and meet maintenance objectives.
  • Use IT systems for training, record-keeping, receiving job tasks, and reporting issues.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring they are clean and functional.
  • Support town events and activities, including setup and occasional evening or weekend work.
  • Promote a positive image of the town, maintaining professional relationships and providing visible, approachable service.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including first aid training and proper use of PPE.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in cleaning and maintenance with knowledge of health & safety legislation, COSHH, and basic electrical safety.
  • Ability to support a range of outdoor events, including extra litter picking and supporting road closures.
  • Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Outlook, Teams, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
