Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Commercial Manager to join our consultancy, working on secondment with a leading Highways and Civil Engineering contractor. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a pivotal role in delivering major infrastructure projects across the region, based in Taunton for two days per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all commercial and financial aspects of the projects, ensuring that contracts are managed efficiently, and costs are controlled effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
路Manage the commercial aspects of ongoing Highways and Civil Engineering projects.
路Ensure effective contract administration and compliance with agreed contractual obligations.
路Lead on cost control, procurement, and subcontractor management, ensuring all financial targets are met.
路Prepare and review cost forecasts, budgets, and financial reports.
路Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
路Liaise closely with the project delivery teams to ensure smooth commercial operations and risk mitigation.
路Negotiate contracts, change orders, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
路Identify and address any commercial risks or issues that may arise.
路Implement best practices for cost and risk management across the project lifecycle.

Requirements:
路Proven experience as a Commercial Manager in the Highways, Civil Engineering, or Construction sectors.
路Strong knowledge of contract management, particularly NEC and JCT forms of contract.
路Excellent financial and commercial acumen with a focus on cost control and contract compliance.
路Effective leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
路Experience working within a consultancy environment is advantageous, though not essential.
路A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field is preferred.
路Professional accreditation (RICS, ICES, or similar) is desirable.
