We are supporting our NHS client in recruiting for this 6 month temporary role, either based in their Taunton or Yeovil sites, this role is hybrid with 2 days in the office.

This role will act as the Company Secretary for this NHS trust, ensuring Board compliance with all regulatory standards and legislation. This role involves working closely with the Chairman and Chief Executive to manage relationships with the Board of Directors, the Council of Governors, and the wider Membership.

路 The Secretary, alongside the Deputy Director of Corporate Services, will establish and maintain governance procedures, advising the Board and Council on governance issues and serving as Secretary to relevant sub-committees. 路 As the guardian of the Trusts Constitution, the Secretary will ensure compliance with NHS guidelines and proper processes for any amendments. They will also support the development of the Council of Governors within the Trusts framework. 路 Additionally, within limits set by the Trust Board, the Secretary may undertake various corporate projects for the Chief Executive and Executive Directors. 路 The role requires handling highly confidential and sensitive information, necessitating strict adherence to confidentiality rules and policies.

Key skills required: 路 Knowledge of corporate governance legislation and best practice 路 Understands roles and relationships between Chairman, Chief Executive, Executive and Non-Executive Directors and Council of Governors 路 Knowledge of NHS Foundation Trust application and development process 路 Experience in producing Board papers. 路 Knowledge of legal and compliance requirements pertaining to NHS Foundation Trusts 路 Ability to monitor compliance requirements and where necessary influence relevant policies and changes to policies 路 Understanding of risk management and wider governance issues impact. 路 It would be beneficial to have experience of working as a Company Secretary (or equivalent role), or in a senior governance role Qualifications: Degree level qualification or equivalent professional experience would be essential, Membership of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) - post graduate level qualification is desirable.

Salary: GBP21.67ph - GBP27.49ph
