Red Recruitment is looking for a PI Claims Handler to join our clients Commercial Claims Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a market leading team which is the biggest FI/D&O TPA in the market, working on a variety of different cases with excellent long term progression opportunities. While the majority of the team is based in Taunton, this role can be based anywhere in the UK.

Our clients Claims Handling team is one of the leading, most experienced claims handling teams in the UK, Ireland and internationally. Their team, based in Taunton, Bristol, London and Ireland handle claims on behalf of major international insurers, brokers, managing general agents and insurer-led schemes.

The role demands the ability to understand and deliver a first class service to insurers and provide support to the relationship management of the client for the firm.

You should have experience in PI claims to be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities of a Claims Handler - PI:

  • Claims Handling PI claims in accordance with guidelines, advising on coverage and potential to impact clients and recommending strategy to bring them to a timely and effective resolution to ensure favourable outcomes (this will sometimes be done in person with the client)
  • Preparing detailed technical referrals, including coverage and reserving recommendations for the client's and their capacity
  • Instructing and monitoring service suppliers, including external legal counsel, panel firm,s and adjuster,s and controlling expenditure
  • Relationship building, developing the client's market recognition and promoting the Claims Team (including participation in industry conferences/committees, by way of attendance or presentation, market meetings, meetings with brokers and insureds)
  • Actively participating in and contributing improvements to the claims processes and systems whilst promoting best practice and reducing the level of non-value added tasks undertaken by Claims Handlers

Key Skills and Experience of a Claims Handler - PI:

  • Experience with PI is essential
  • A good track record in handling professional indemnity and director's and officer's claims
  • Ability to understand and apply regulatory and legal requirements
  • Appropriate technical expertise and analytical skills
  • Coverage knowledge with the ability to make own determination/challenge lawyers
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions
  • Strong team player who identifies and proposes solutions to problems
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and ECF knowledge
