Alecto Recruitment are partnering with a Commercial and Industrial Solar PV company who operate UK wide, who are now looking to appoint a Solar PV Operation & Maintenance Engineer in Somerset due to continued growth.

Role Overview:


Reporting into the O&M Coordinator as part of the O&M team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing customers assets to the highest standards, maintaining a must repair and first-time fix mentality.
Duties as the Solar Operations and Maintenance Engineer will include:

  • Responsibility for solar plant performance, optimisation of the site and for maintaining equipment availability.
  • Pre-planned and reactive maintenance works across solar farms, including electrical maintenance, solar panel cleaning (occasionally) and supporting the HV team.
  • Effectively help to resolve work tickets and report issues back to the line manager. Compiling reports of completed works.
  • Liaising with internal and external teams, including in-house LV/HV personnel, the grounds team and external subcontractors when required.
  • Taking part in the company's on-call rota for non-working hours (including Bank Holidays and weekends) (on call allowances).

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Experience in industrial, utility scale and/or Roof top solar is preferred. However, if no solar experience, then an industrial electrician background is of interest.
  • A City and Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Installation, Testing & Inspection or similar, electrical course.
  • 18th edition wiring regulations.
  • High Voltage (HV) Authorisation would be advantageous but not essential.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential due to remote nature of the sites
