Due to significant growth, they are seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to head our team and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
About the Role As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee a team of Quantity Surveyors, managing all financial and contractual aspects of projects. You'll play a pivotal role in guiding cost management, procurement, and contract administration while driving project success through strategic leadership and hands-on expertise.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the Quantity Surveying team, fostering growth and excellence.
- Allocate resources to ensure project deliverables are met efficiently.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs to enhance team capabilities.
- Develop and manage cost plans, ensuring projects stay within budget.
- Provide accurate financial reports, forecasts, and updates to senior management.
- Maintain robust cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop procurement strategies, manage tenders, and negotiate supplier contracts.
- Ensure compliance with legal and company policies.
- Manage contract variations, interim payments, and final accounts.
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Implement quality assurance procedures for cost and contract management.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Membership with RICS or equivalent (highly desirable).
- Significant experience in Quantity Surveying within construction or infrastructure.
- Proven leadership in managing teams and large-scale projects from inception to completion.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent financial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in contract law and UK standard forms of contract.
- Competent with relevant software (e.g., MS Office, CostX, CATO).
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel as needed.
