The School

Five Education is working with a special school based in Taunton to look for an educational support worker. The school emphasizes on delivering educative experiences to develop young people's mental and physical wellbeing on preparing pupils for adulthood. All the students that attend this school have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) to support their SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who have complex needs or display challenging behaviour. You will need to be compassionate, patient and be able to establish an excellent rapport with hard-to-reach pupils.

The Role The role is primarily supporting a student with challenging behaviour in engagement and participation in class, but occasionally you will work in small groups or whole class support. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to create a positive and supportive learning environment conductive to the success of students. Main Responsibilities Support 1:1 with identified pupil in class and around the school Work under the guidance of the class teacher to enable student to access the curriculum and possibly tailor tasks to their ability levels Guide pupils when they are struggling and help them to become regulated and calm Assist the class teacher with pupil and classroom management Essential Criteria Previous experience working with individuals with SEMH/complex needs Right to work in the UK (Valid Visa) Relevant references and DBS/police checks if necessary Able to work 5 days a week (term time only), 8:30-15:30 If you think this could be a job for you, please get in touch to find out more from Danielle at .
