Our client, in the education sector, is currently seeking a LSA to support their SENCO and Inclusion team. A role helping to foster a caring and supportive learning environment, this role supports students in achieving their full learning potential! LSA (Social and Emotional Mental Health) - Taunton Salary: GBP11.98 per hour Type: Temporary to Permanent, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30 - 16:00, 30-minute lunch break. Term Time. Under the direction of the Inclusion Manager and as directed by the AHT SEN, assist the SEMH lead in the implementation of programmes of work for students in alternative provision and lessons There will be a requirement to work with students, individually or in groups, that may have complex additional educational needs and may include students presenting moderate to intensive challenges This could mean working with students with substantial disabilities, or behavioural difficulties within the Flexible Learning Centre (FLC)

  • To support students either 1:1 or in a small group who have SEMH needs which impact on their ability to engage fully in mainstream lessons
  • To support students to engage in activities as agreed whilst in the FLC
  • To supervise students attending off-site and alternative provision
  • To engage with students who have significant SEMH needs
  • To work with individual students and groups, introducing tasks, monitoring students work and using a range of strategies to support their learning
  • To promote independent learning
  • To contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities for individuals and groups
  • To help prepare and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment for learning
  • To lead on 1:1 and small group interventions. E.g. reading and homework club.
  • To provide care with regard to the health and medical needs of students.
  • To draw on specialist skills and knowledge to respond effectively to students with special educational needs as outlined in the four areas of SEN in the SEND Code of Practice (2014)
  • Actively participate in the schools performance development scheme, as specified in the school policy, meeting regularly with your line manager, in accordance with the scheme, ensuring that performance standards/targets are set and met within the agreed time scale
  • The ability to attend excursions and residentials which may extend beyond that of the school day
