SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a state-funded special school. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) issues and Communication Needs (SLCN). The successful candidate will be part of a specialist team, contributing to an innovative and supportive educational environment.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH and SLCN, helping them to succeed academically and socially.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to raise standards and set high expectations.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a targeted core curriculum, focusing on literacy, numeracy, PSHCE, and PE.
  • Engage in outdoor education, enrichment activities, forest school, art, and development of emotional literacy and communication skills.
  • Maintain the highest professional standards and demonstrate a passion for excellence in every interaction with young people.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with students who have complex and diverse needs is desirable.
  • Enthusiasm and resilience to work in a challenging but rewarding environment.
  • Professionalism in classroom practice and interactions with students.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
