Long Term Teaches have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified teacher to join a specialist school in Taunton, that supports ages 4 to 19. All students have complex learning and Social, Emotional, Mental Health need. Split across 2 sites, students are in classes based on their needs.

You’ll have an enthusiasm for supporting learners with differentiated needs, providing learning support with a positive and inclusive outlook, and managing sometimes complex behaviours within a structured learning environment to ensure differently-abled learners can reach their full potential.

Main Tasks:

  • Take responsibility for a class of children determined on an annual basis by the Head teacher and in accordance with the duties listed below.
  • To carry out the professional duties covered by the latest School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. The post holder will be expected to undertake duties in line with the Professional Standards for Qualified Teachers and uphold the professional code of the General Teaching Council for England.
  • Uphold the Staff Code of Conduct and guidance in other school Policies.
  • Teach a class of learners, and ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
  • Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Promote the school’s ethos and values.
  • Contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and governors.

Requirements:

  • QTS
  • Passion and commitment for supporting learners with specific needs
  • An empathetic, patient and tolerant demeanour
  • Key organisation and communication skills
  • Experience with managing complex behaviours and helping SEN learners to achieve

Commencing in November 2024, this is a full time, long term position, working term time only.
