Responsibilities:
As the Purchasing Manager, you will have overall responsibility for purchasing and buying goods for stock or resale for the organisation. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing the organisation's purchasing strategy
- Reviewing stock profiles and introducing new or improved methods of inventory control
- Monitoring and forecasting inventory trends
- Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers
- Networking with the supply chain to maximise pricing strategies and agreements
- Ensuring on-time delivery from suppliers and monitoring supply chain performance
- Managing inventory, including storage, locations, transactions, and bills of materials
- Implementing and maintaining a perpetual stock take programme
- Completing transactions in accordance with procedures
- Maintaining agreed inventory levels and recommending adjustments
Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- CIPS qualification or a demonstration of experience within the procurement field
- Ideally, a background in engineering with a service and manufacturing profile
- Ability to inspire confidence in customers and suppliers
- Commercial ability to maximise financial returns
- High level of competency in the use of IT systems
- Understanding of stock management systems and financial controls
Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):
In addition to the essential requirements, the following qualifications and experience would be beneficial:
- Experience working in a similar purchasing role
- Knowledge of engineering components and their supply chains
- Familiarity with procurement software and systems
