Are you an experienced Engineer ready to take on a supervisory role in the renewable energy sector? We’re looking for a Maintenance Supervisor / Engineering Team Leader to join a renewable energy plant near Taunton, Somerset.

About the Role

As the Maintenance Supervisor you’ll be instrumental in ensuring both the mechanical and electrical systems of the plant are maintained to the highest standards. You’ll manage a skilled team, oversee contractors, and ensure compliance with statutory regulations, all while enhancing plant reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the mechanical and electrical engineering teams on site
  • Ensure all systems are maintained in line with OEM manuals and statutory standards.
  • Plan and supervise engineering maintenance during plant shutdowns.
  • Investigate plant failures, address defects, and improve overall reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations (e.g., PSSR, LOLER, PUWER).
  • Manage contractors and oversee maintenance contracts.
  • Ensure critical plant spares and emergency repair services are available.

What We’re Looking For

  • A time served apprenticeship along with a HNC / ONC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent,
  • At least 4+ years of experience in a heavy industrial environment – cement, power plant, paper mill, utilities, manufacturing

Experience:

    • Strong background in mechanical and electrical maintenance.
    • Experience with high-pressure equipment, rotating machinery, and electrical systems (desirable).

Skills:

    • Strong management and leadership skills
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
    • Proven experience managing multiple contractors and maintenance contracts
