The Role:
- Use offline CAD/CAM programming packages to take engineering drawings from clients within the aerospace and defence industries and plan the best route to produce that component using 5-axis machinery
- Program, set and operate a 5-axis machinery to produce components effectively and efficiently, working to tight tolerances.
- You will be the ‘go-to’ offline programmer within the business so will lead all programming projects, as well as train and mentor lower skilled machinists within the business.
- Assist the business when acquiring new machinery for the site, discussing which CAD packages would work best and suggesting ways that the production department can be improved and made more efficient.
- Lead a project from the conception of the drawing, through to the programming and machining of this component.
- Identify tooling requirements for new programs and design new tooling alongside the design and manufacturing engineers where required.
The Requirements:
- Previous experience working with Offline CAD/CAM Programming packages within precision engineering (essential)
- Proven ability to program and set up 5-axis CNC machinery (essential)
- Strong understanding of CNC processes, working from drawings to plan, program and machine a part to tight tolerances and accurate specifications (essential)
- Proven ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings (essential)
- Willing to relocate to Devon full time as this role is onsite 5 days per week (essential)
- Previous experience producing components for the aerospace and/or defence industries (advantageous)
- Previous experience leading projects from start to finish, liaising with different departments when required (advantageous)
- Full rights to work in the UK and happy for security checks to be carried out
