Job Description

Our client, a leading construction and engineering company, is seeking an experienced M&E Coordinator / Building Services Operator to join their team for a high-profile substation project. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing, coordinating, and overseeing all mechanical and electrical (M&E) aspects of the project, ensuring that all systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in line with the project specifications, timelines, and health and safety regulations.

This role is essential for maintaining continuous communication between design, engineering, and construction teams, helping to identify and solve M&E-related challenges to ensure project delivery meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • M&E Coordination: Oversee all M&E activities, liaising with contractors, engineers, and site teams to keep the project on track.
  • Technical Guidance: Ensure M&E systems are installed per design and meet required regulations and standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Keep all M&E documentation up-to-date, reporting progress to the Project Manager and stakeholders.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality inspections and enforce standards on all M&E work.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure strict compliance with health and safety requirements on-site for all M&E activities.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve M&E issues quickly to minimise delays.
  • Commissioning: Coordinate final checks and handover, ensuring systems are operational and documentation is complete.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications: Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience: Proven M&E coordination experience on infrastructure projects, ideally substations or utilities.
  • Certifications: Valid CSCS card; SMSTS or SSSTS preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
