AI Systems Architect / CTO

London, UK (EU Remote or Hybrid)


c £85-95k DoE - plus high Bonus, share options

We are looking for a talented and visionary CTO to lead the technology strategy with a tiny UK-based AI startup developing a cutting-edge platform of AI Agents to revolutionise tax workflows. A tech co-founder you will take the lead on everything technical.


As the company scales-up, the CTO will manage the full AI agent lifecycle, from design and model selection to building scalable systems, monitoring performance, and ensuring secure deployment. Decision intelligence expertise would be right on the money!


This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring you to build a robust enterprise-grade AI system. You will need deep expertise in building agent-based AI systems, including multi-agent frameworks, reasoning, and memory modules, together with experience of integrating external tools and APIs into AI agents to enhance problem-solving and self-reflection capabilities.


You will be skilled in developing AI systems where agents collaborate, provide constructive feedback and improve their outputs through iterative processes.


Requirements:

  • Ability to innovate and drive the technology vision, with a focus on the future of AI-driven productivity in enterprises.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in AI technologies, cloud infrastructure, and operational challenges of scaling AI solutions.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product, business, and operations teams, while leading engineering teams to execute on a shared vision.

Technical skills:

  • AI/ML expertise to include extensive experience with large language models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks, natural language processing (NLP), reasoning algorithms, and multi-agent systems.
  • Expertise in Python, strong experience with .NET framework, proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js, C++ or Go
  • Expertise in Swagger, RESTful API design and development
  • AWS or Microsoft Azure, containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes
  • Experience in working with serverless architectures
  • Expertise in integrating APIs and data sources
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL)
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or CircleCI
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch
