Alexander Daniels are proud to be working exclusively with a large manufacturing operation based in Telford, who are seeking a Reporting Accountant on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting into the Finance Director, you will be responsible for preparing financial reports, performing variance analysis, reconciling balance sheets, and managing Profit and Loss statements. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data and supporting the decision-making process within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Investigate and explain variances in financial results.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on variance analysis.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure all accounts are accurately reconciled and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  • Manage and analyse P&L statements.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the P&L.
  • Work with various departments to ensure accurate revenue and expense reporting.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process.
  • Support the preparation of financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates to management.
  • Maintain and enhance internal control procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Work closely with other finance team members to ensure cohesive financial reporting.
  • Provide financial analysis and support to other departments as needed.

This role would suit a candidate who is Qualified by Experience with proven experience in financial reporting, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and P&L management. You must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as being a confident user of Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs as a minimum). Power BI and/or SAP experience would also be an advantage but by no means essential.
