About the Role:

Our client, a prominent player in the telecoms industry, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Billing Assistant to join their finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the billing process, contributing to the overall financial health and smooth operation of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare sales invoices for review by the line manager.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial and Legal Teams to bill large one-off contracts accurately and timely, in accordance with contract terms.
  • Participate in the customer onboarding process, assisting account management teams in managing customer expectations and discussing requirements to maintain robust and sustainable billing processes.
  • Capture customer requirements with the project team to ensure billing allows for prompt payment.
  • Address customer queries and resolve any issues that arise regarding billing.
  • Assist with intercompany billing and raise bills between subsidiaries.
  • Reconcile source data against billed data to verify the accuracy of the manual billing process.

Essential Experience:

  • Strong Excel skills (including Lookups and Pivot Tables).
  • Background in the telecoms industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage expectations.
  • Capable of detailed work while considering the bigger picture.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Quick learner of tasks and processes.
  • Financial background with the ability to reconcile own work and demonstrate workings.
  • Excellent communication skills with both finance and non-finance individuals.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with Access Database, SalesForce, and NetSuite.
  • Telecoms billing experience.
  • 'Big data' experience.
  • Understanding of double entry bookkeeping.
