Job Title: Maintenance Project Engineer
Location: Telford, UK
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, day shift
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Project Engineer to manage and support maintenance department projects. This role combines hands-on responsibilities with contractor management, requiring expertise in project management and electrical/mechanical installations. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget while driving improvements in plant performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Promote and adhere to HSE policies across the department and plant.
- Drive initiatives to improve plant health and safety.
- Ensure contractor RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) and permits are updated and followed.
- Manage and lead projects to meet deadlines, budgets, and specifications.
- Use project management tools to track progress and communicate updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Execute projects that enhance plant KPIs (e.g., OEE).
- Deliver value-for-money solutions with a focus on waste reduction.
- Drive innovation and positively challenge the status quo.
- Attend required training and adhere to company standards.
- Provide training to stakeholders following project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Time-served apprenticeship in mechanical/electrical engineering or HNC in an engineering discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience with installations and fabrication.
- Project management and contractor control experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable:
- Health and safety accreditations.
- Experience with tier 1 automotive supply.
- Familiarity with equipment such as die casting machines, furnaces, hydraulic presses, ABB robots, Siemens PLCs, and CNCs.
