Salary: £14.99 per hour
Job Summary:
Claire at Amber Mace is recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Team Leader to join the team at a children's home that provides care and support to young people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and complex health conditions. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the home, leading a team of care staff, and ensuring that the children receive the highest standards of care in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and support a team of care staff, ensuring they provide the highest level of care and support to children and young people in line with their care plans and individual needs.
• Oversee daily operations and routines, ensuring that all children’s needs are met, including health, educational, social, and emotional support.
• Assist with personal care tasks when necessary, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
• Provide training and ongoing support to staff, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to provide person-centered care. Identify and address any gaps in staff knowledge and performance.
• Work alongside social workers, health professionals, and families to develop and regularly review care plans that meet each child’s specific needs.
• Ensure that children’s health, safety, and emotional wellbeing are constantly monitored and that they are supported in their development and independence.
• Maintain a high standard of care and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including safeguarding, health and safety, and relevant policies and procedures.
• Work with other professionals, including healthcare providers, social workers, and educators, to ensure integrated care for each child.
• Lead by example during shifts, ensuring that staff are engaged and the home runs smoothly, with appropriate handovers and communication.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a children’s home or similar setting, ideally working with children who have physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or complex health conditions.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support, and manage a team effectively.
• A caring and empathetic approach to working with children with complex needs, always prioritizing their safety and well-being.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with children, families, and professionals in a clear and effective manner.
• Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent) is desirable. Training in safeguarding, first aid, and managing complex health needs is also advantageous.
• Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
