CAD Technician Telford 3 month fixed term contract £35,000 (pro rota) The CAD Technician will undertake a variety of design activities including but not limited to, DfMA manufacturing drawings for our projects so that they can be followed by the manufacturing operatives. Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Co-ordinate the design process between the design department, external consultants and production. 2. Prepare dimensional drawings, installation drawings, production drawings and more complex drawings (if required). 3. Detail structural design models using Tekla Structures and other software. 4. Undertake clash control on 3D drawing files. 5. Produce fabrication drawings to allow the factory to fabricate and manufacture our products. 6. Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes or additional details 7. Review architectural plans, specifications, and other customer documentation 8. Support the factory and site installation processes to develop prototype designs and resolve issues and designs for final production. 9. Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters, and /performance guarantees) for future reference. 10. Establish filing guidelines and processes to ensure documentation is retained in the correct manner. 11. Maintain excellent client relationships 12. Liaising with clients, project managers, and colleagues across the business from the factory floor through to the leadership team. 13. Responding to site queries as required. 14. Undertake site visits as required. 15. Ensure the implementation of IMS procedures within the department, along with contributing to the companies ISO9001 and ISO14001 systems along with BOPAS, CE Marking and EN1090 accreditations/certifications Education & Training: Required: Minimum 3 years' experience working in a design office. Clean Driving License Desirable: HND/HNC in Construction Knowledge & Experience: Required: Knowledge of software and skill including using 2 & 3D CAD / other 3D modelling software such as Revit, Vertex and Tekla as necessary and BIM (Building Information Modeling). A good working knowledge of CAD and the ability to read drawings. Good working knowledge of general manufacturing CAD designing experience Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent Desirable: Knowledge/Experience in offsite construction is not essential but advantageous An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods is advantageous Good working knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015 Architectural / Design or technical background is not essential but is advantageous Skills & Abilities: Good forward planning. Good communication and people skills Attention to detail and accuracy, with a focus on quality Ability to present ideas effectively Able to evaluate ideas of others Ability to work individually or as part of a multi-disciplinary team Able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
