Job Purpose:

Responsible for the detailed design of electrical control systems, ensuring high-quality and compliant solutions for a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Hardware Design Engineer:

  • Conduct electrical site surveys.
  • Design single-line diagrams for power, control, networking, and communications.
  • Produce electrical schematics, cable schedules, and control/drive panel general arrangements.
  • Create manufacturing, installation, and as-built documentation (as-tested, as-installed, and as-commissioned).
  • Maintain the Technical Construction File related to electrical design.
  • Perform calculations to support system design, including power sizing, short circuit analysis, voltage drop, and heat dissipation.
  • Select and procure equipment/components in line with client specifications and internal preferences.
  • Provide support for manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, client specifications, and internal standards.
  • Meet project milestones and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum HND/Foundation Degree/Level 5 Apprenticeship in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of electrical control systems.

  • Confident and proactive with strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
