Owen Daniels have partnered with Polytec in Telford as they look to appoint a number of Operational Functional Leads who will take responsibility of coordinating and overseeing the launch of new or updated projects within the operations team, guiding the team through the entire process from concept development to post-production rollout. Polytec are a Tier 1 Automotive supplier of high-quality exterior plastic components, supplying into some of the biggest names in the Automotive industry.Operational Functional LeadMultiple VacanciesContract – 18 months minimum Outside IR35Telford/BridgnorthAs an Operational Functional Lead, you will ensure timely completion of operations deliverables in line with requirements and prepare the operations team for all launch activities. This position will report to the Head of Operations while collaborating with the Project Manager, providing strong leadership and stakeholder management to optimise performance. You will independently manage tasks, monitor project progress, and prepare detailed plans, risk assessments, and status updatesOperational Functional Lead  Job Description  
  • Oversee and coordinate all activities within the project team to ensure operations deliverables are completed on time and align with PEP requirements, with the operations team fully prepared for successful launch activities.
  • Ensure all launch activities remain within the approved budget, promptly communicating any deviations to the Project Manager to maintain financial oversight.
  • Provide strong leadership across departments and stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, to optimise performance. Work collaboratively to align with the manufacturing strategy and ensure effective engagement and delivery.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies, set a positive example for safe practices, and foster a culture of professionalism, transparency, and trust within the team and with external partners.
  • Independently manage tasks, prepare and maintain project plans, monitor progress, address risks, and ensure compliance with customer requirements. Lead governance reviews, document lessons learned, and manage KPIs related to timing, cost, quality, and cash flow.
Operational Functional Lead Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications 
  • Minimum of 5 years leading Automotive Tier-1 Projects, preferably within Plastics Manufacturing
  • Degree-qualified in an Engineering discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years leading APQP process & all Gate Approvals
  • Managing cross-functional teams / matrix organisations
  • Working knowledge of SAP an advantage
