Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum

Shift: Monday - Friday, Day Shift

Role Overview:

As a PLC Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of PLC systems that control our manufacturing processes. You will ensure that our automated equipment runs smoothly, diagnosing and resolving issues quickly to minimize downtime, and making modifications and updates to programming as needed. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and hands-on experience with various PLC platforms.

Key Responsibilities for PLC Engineer:

  • Conduct PLC fault finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to resolve system issues promptly.
  • Modify and program PLCs to optimize machine performance and accommodate production changes.
  • Collaborate with the production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment is functioning efficiently and effectively.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and updates to PLC-controlled systems to improve reliability and reduce the risk of faults.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of PLC programs, modifications, and system configurations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing automation enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards when working on PLC systems and associated equipment.

Requirements for PLC Engineer:

  • Proven experience in PLC fault finding, modification, and programming in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with a variety of PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.).
  • HNC qualification (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of automation systems and their integration into manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality in all aspects of the role.
