Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fabrication and welding tasks on various metal components and structures, ensuring high-quality welds that meet industry standards.
- Working at customer sites as required, completing the installation and maintenance of manufactured products (Conveyors etc.)
- Read, interpret and fabricate from both basic and highly technical drawings
- Working on stainless steel products/sheet metal
- To liaise with the Designer, Production Manager and Foreman to ensure that work carried out is accurate
- Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, and cutting as necessary before welding.
- Operate welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding machines, while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Inspect welded joints for strength, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Must be able to weld thin gauge material ranging from 1.2mm to 10mm
- To be available for evening and weekend work when the business requires it
- Driving Company Vehicles to and from Customers/Suppliers
- Maintaining a safe and tidy workplace and reporting any faults/hazards, in accordance with Company
- Health and Safety requirements
Profile
A successful Fabrication Engineer should have:
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools relevant to welding and fabrication.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Measurements and calculations during fabrication processes.
- Essential experience in TIG welding.
- Experience in working at customer sites of similar industries (Food, pharmaceutical)
- Ability to fabricate components from sheet metal according to specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Mechanical skills preferred (i.e. Conveyor/Machinery)
- Experience fabricating/welding in thin gauge materials
- Ability to work from drawings
- Comfortable working in a hot and noisy environment
