Overview: The Production Manager plays a vital role in overseeing daily production operations, ensuring a safe work environment, and meeting customer requirements across all three shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic plans for the HPDC production department to align with customer and business needs, including scheduling for prototype runs, pre-production, and standard production.
  • Champion quality principles within the department, fostering a Zero Quality Spill mindset.
  • Schedule manpower effectively to meet production needs across all shifts.
  • Source production materials and consumables as required.
  • Build and lead a skilled, motivated team capable of delivering high-quality output and achieving departmental and divisional goals.
  • Collaborate with the Planning and Logistics team to ensure that plans and corrective actions are effectively implemented to safeguard customer supply.
  • Cultivate strong customer relationships with support departments.
  • Track, compile, and report on HPDC performance KPIs to all business levels.
  • Partner with the Training & Development team to enhance team skills through coaching and mentoring, establishing performance standards, conducting regular reviews, and monitoring progress.
  • Promote a 5S culture within the Business Unit.
  • Utilize the departmental training budget to address skill gaps.
  • Ensure compliance with current quality standards in all production processes.
  • Deliver quality parts on time to meet customer demands.
  • Lead the implementation of the groups world-class manufacturing systems, ensuring adherence and reflecting this in quarterly audits.
  • Assist the BU Manager with customer-facing responsibilities.
  • Adhere to all Operational Procedures and Policies outlined in the Employee Handbook, including Quality and Environment programs.
  • Embrace and promote the groups philosophies and Employee Charter.
  • Advocate for HSE policies throughout the department and instill a safety-first culture.
  • Facilitate Tier 3 daily meetings, setting agendas and supporting the Tier 4 management meetings.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Degree/Diploma in Manufacturing or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with tools and processes for producing complex HPDC thin-walled structural components.
  • Strong understanding of business management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and production coordination.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in Tier 1 Automotive supply.
  • Previous operations leadership in automotive, engineering, or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Manufacturing techniques (e.g., Lean, Value Stream Mapping, CI, KANBAN).
  • Proven track record in people and performance management.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coach team members.
  • Good mathematical skills with budget management experience.
  • Sound understanding of cost of quality, continuous improvement, and production planning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using KPIs to meet targets and utilizing data for decision-making in Safety, Quality, Timing, Motivation, and Environment (SQTME).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • IOSH Certification.
  • Six Sigma Certification.
  • SAP proficiency.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving tools.
