Primary Purpose of the Role:

To plan the material and manufacturing requirements in accordance with demand (production / repair) in support of a Site Production Schedules for a production line running continuously twenty-four hours a day, based at a engineering manufacturing site based in Templecombe, Somerset. The Planner plans production / repair aiming to balance the needs for ensuring Customer satisfaction, business continuity, optimising costs, timeframes and capacity

*role is working permanent nights, Monday to Thursday core hours are 6pm – 3.30am, with flexi start & finish times. Any applicants MUST be comfortable working nights*

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

The Manufacturing Planner is responsible for execution of the agreed plan in support of the Master Planner and APRU Manager

  • Efficient management of the Oracle ASCP Workbench including:
    • Timely release of planned orders and purchase requisitions in line with the S&OP.
    • Management of ERP exception messages
    • Execution of Production and Repair requirements from release of planned orders to completion to stock
    • Maintenance and management of all parts supply through the ERP and Execution Systems including:
      • Liaise with Procurement to ensure materials are available on MRP scheduled dates
      • Liaise with APRU Leaders to confirm the availability of labour and equipment.
      • Maintain works order dates and statuses.
      • Ensuring all materials are kitted to Shop floor on time in support of production activities.
      • Ensuring traceability (management of serial numbers)
      • Understand the interface between ERP and Execution system to ensure work orders visible for technician to complete labour bookings
      • Maintenance and management of system work orders to include progress, shortages, schedule adherence, closure
      • Identify any deviations from the plan and where necessary take remedial action to achieve conformance and minimise re-scheduling. This includes alerting when planning parameter issues are identified, escalating in the event of delays impacting the SSA (site schedule achievement) or when arbitration is required and also supporting the non-conformance, MRB and RTV process.
      • Contribute to decisions linked to applications for technical modifications.
      • Understanding of industry standard KPI’s with self-assurance and capability to present and explain to a wider group.
      • First point of contact for Stores and Shop Floor Technicians.
      • Support ensuring that the physical and information flows are consistent.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Systems and key principles of ERP
  • Experience in Supply Chain activities – Planning / Purchasing / Logistics / Delivery
  • Must be computer literate with familiarity with MRP/ERP software tools such as SAP/Oracle etc
  • Effective communicator confident in dealing with all levels of management and multi-functional teams
  • Practical experience in continuous improvement and problem solving techniques
  • Capable of analysing data and using this data to make informed decisions or escalate for support
  • Experience and understanding of industry standard metrics, and using this to drive improvements
  • Comfortable to work night shift and night shift only

Qualifications:

  • Educated to “A Level” standard but degree level preferable
  • Full APICs Certification or equivalent would be desirable
