Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Work closely with class teachers to raise learning and attainment levels across various subjects, with a particular focus on computing as PPA cover.
  • Support pupils individually or in groups to ensure they can access the curriculum and participate fully in learning activities.
  • Utilize effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a good and safe learning environment.
  • Organize and manage teaching spaces and resources to maintain a stimulating educational setting.
  • Supervise classes in the absence of the teacher and use ICT skills to advance pupils’ learning.
  • Contribute to the planning and preparation of lessons and support the inclusion of all pupils.

Planning

  • Assist in the assessment and planning process by monitoring, recording, and reporting pupil performance and progress.
  • Prepare classrooms for lessons and plan structured activities that engage and motivate learners.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate effectively with staff, pupils, parents/carers, and other professionals.
  • Develop professional relationships with colleagues and contribute to team meetings to enhance educational strategies and outcomes.

Health and Safety

  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils by adhering to safeguarding protocols and the school’s child protection policy.

Professional Development

  • Engage in continuous professional development to keep skills and knowledge up-to-date and reflect on personal practice to improve effectiveness.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role, preferably with some responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of school curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
