Your new companyHays is collaborating with a well-established environmental services company based on multiple sites around the south-west of England. They provide a comprehensive range of waste management services, including skip hire, roll-on roll-off, grab hire, wheelie bins, and other recycling services. With a strong commitment to recycling and environmental responsibility, they have been serving the community for over 20 years. Their innovative approach and dedication to sustainability make them a leader in the industry. Working hours: Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM, and 1 hour lunch-breakSalary: £26k - £30k per year, dependent on experience Your new roleAs an experienced Accounts Payables Assistant, you will join their growing team. This role is office-based, with an opportunity to go hybrid after a 6-month probational period. You will develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers, manage the order-to-payment process, control purchase orders, and understand the impact of the purchase ledger on the General Ledger. Additionally, you'll manage invoices through a cloud-based authorisation process, reconcile supplier statements monthly, and work closely with the financial controller and accountant to manage payments.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role is essential, 2+ years desirable
  • Attention to detail with high levels of accuracy in relation to supplier invoice reporting
  • Experience using Sage Line accountancy systems (Sage 50 and/or 200)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work accurately in a busy, demanding, and fast-paced environment
  • An opportunity to work closely with the Management Accountant, and grow within your role in Accounts
