Our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor (Freelance) with a strong civils background to oversee health and safety practices on a large-scale MOD base construction project. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and promote a culture of safety across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
  • Advise and support management on safety matters and develop site-specific safety plans.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure all staff, contractors, and visitors adhere to safety protocols.
  • Deliver health and safety training and inductions to site personnel.
  • Liaise with the client, MOD representatives, and regulatory bodies regarding HSE matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and ensure all documentation is compliant with legal and client requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • NEBOSH/IOSH certification or equivalent.
  • Strong background in civil engineering or construction projects.
  • Previous experience working on MOD or high-security sites is desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence others.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions under pressure.
