ROLE OVERVIEW

As Quantity Surveyoryou will be responsible for the commercial management of projects in all departments including Podium Landscaping, Green Roofing & Green Walls. You will contribute to the overall running and continuous improvement of the business, along with development of the Urban Green department, whilst ensuring that the highest professional and commercial standards are maintained to continually improve the service that we offer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting the Director in developing robust commercial and operation procedures and practices at the Company.
  • Full awareness and understanding of the companies H&S policy and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and policies.
  • Working with Project Managers to compile programmes based on costs to complete and project budgets.
  • Preparing subcontract documents, including bills of quantities for the operational teams.
  • Reviewing contracts and contract conditions and reporting concerns or recommendations to the Director.
  • Procurement of subcontractors &Analysing costs for tenders.
  • Management and accountability of project costs across the business.
  • Undertake cost value analysis including cost value reporting.
  • Identify, analyse and respond to commercial risks &Performing cost control reporting.
  • Pricing and agreeing variations with clients &Detailed progress reporting.
  • Valuation of works and preparing and agreeing final accounts.
  • Provide commercial advise to the site team when requested &Maintaining awareness of different types of construction contracts.
  • Respond to and contest payment notices when required.
  • Encouraging and developing teamwork both across the teams.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

You will be expected to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality at all times regarding the company and its Clients. You must also work efficiently and safely at all times in accordance with the appropriate training, company H&S policy and HSE guidelines.

Your ability to relate well with Clients and Staff and to maintain high professional standards is very important, alongside your ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner both in writing and verbally. You should demonstrate and use initiative to carry out work with minimal supervision, including the skills to prioritise and work to strict deadlines whilst being thorough and paying close attention to detail. This will be reinforced by demonstrating an enthusiastic, flexible and conscientious approach to work.

Once inducted, you should demonstrate a clear understanding of the Company's structure, values and procedures. In relation to this, you must advise your line manager immediately of any visits to site by external agencies such as the Health & Safety Executive, Environmental Health Officers etc.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

  • Quantity Surveying Degree in the field of construction or equivalent

Experience/Skills

  • Experience in landscaping/commercial constriction & as a commercial lead on multiple projects
  • Methodical, close attention to details, accurate cost control and forecasting.
  • Ability to analyse and process technical and cost dataNegotiation skills and experience withGood knowledge of construction contract law
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the necessity for financial regulatory controls.
  • Working knowledge of all types of building and construction contracts &Ability to advise on the financial position of projects.
  • Full valid driving licence and own vehicle required &Ability to travel regionally and nationally
