CMM Programmer
Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
£36,000 - £38,000

This CMM Programmer role offers the opportunity to work with complex, high-precision components in a well-established company, covering industries like aerospace, defence, oil and gas, and nuclear. You'll gain hands-on experience with Aberlink CMM software, work on new product introductions (NPI), and take on varied tasks, including programming new parts, converting legacy programs, and training other staff. This provides both technical challenges and opportunities to develop leadership skills.

In addition to the technical aspects, the company fosters a supportive, family-oriented culture, perfect for those seeking work-life balance. Fixed shift hours, including an early finish on Fridays at 1pm, allow you to enjoy a long weekend every week. With a competitive benefits package (including a 5% pension contribution, enhanced sick pay, and long service awards), this role is ideal for candidates who enjoy precision engineering and want to grow in a stable, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and programme CMMs from blueprints, CAD models, and component parts. Convert legacy programs from alternative software platforms.
  • Work closely with Production, Suppliers, and Customers to meet quality specifications within tight tolerances.
  • Ensure that all parts are measured accurately and recorded according to quality standards and engineering drawings.
  • Support the quality-led team in verifying precision-engineered components to the required standards, adhering to strict production timeframes.

Key Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • The company uses Aberlink CMM software, so candidates with experience in this system will have a distinct advantage. However, strong experience with other CMM software (Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Renishaw, etc.) will also be considered, particularly for those who can quickly adapt to new software systems.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), is essential for ensuring components meet the required specifications.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to work with complex components. Attention to detail and an ability to manage tight tolerances will be key to success in this role.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in CMM programming and inspection within a precision engineering environment. This individual should be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and comfortable mentoring less experienced staff. They should also have an interest in new technologies and the willingness to learn and adapt to new software and systems.
