I am delighted to be exclusively partnering with The Royal School of Needlework to recruit a Finance Manager on a part time basis. Based at the magnificent Hampton Court Palace, south-west London, they offer a thriving education programme for everyone from beginner to degree level. This is permanent, hybrid working opportunity and the successful candidate will be expected to work 3 days per week. Salary up to £50k FTE

Description

To oversee the day to day operational finance and prepare the financial reporting of the Royal School of Needlework and RSN Enterprises Ltd.

  • Line management, coaching and development of the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant
  • Responsibility for all day to day operational finance matters
  • Processing of the monthly payroll
  • Review of payment runs prepared by the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant
  • Cash flow forecasting for the group
  • Review of VAT returns prepared by the Finance Officer and submission to HMRC after discussion and review with the Finance Director
  • Preparation of the Office for Students Annual Financial Return for review by the Finance Director
  • Preparation of the financial aspects of the Charity Commission Annual Return for review by the Finance Director
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, including review of journals and reconciliations prepared by the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant
  • Principal point of contact for the auditors for the year end audit and preparation of the lead schedules and statutory accounts
  • Integral part of the budgeting process in conjunction with the Finance Director
  • Submission of Gift Aid claims
  • Participation in project work as required

Profile

  • Full qualification of either ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent - essential
  • At least 4 years' post qualification experience - essential
  • Extensive management accounts experience - essential
  • Experience of supervising Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff - essential
  • At least basic treasury experience
  • Experience of working in the charity sector and the relevant accounting and tax regulations applying to charities, including VAT, would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Experience of commercial and retail operations, including stock management an advantage
  • Experience of the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Systems experience - ideally Sage 50 but also experience of other systems interfacing with the main accounting system.
  • Strong communication skills - ability to communicate with colleagues of all levels across the organisation
  • Ability to understand complex issues and bring clarity of thought and explanation
  • Ability to coach and develop team members
  • Strong organisation skills - ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines essential
  • High level of numeracy, literacy and attention to detail
