An excellent opportunity has arisen to work for our established client within education in Thatcham as a Financial Officer. You will be responsible for managing and administering the termly billing and account's receivable function. Driving licence and own transport is essential due to the location of the client.
As the Financial Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the sales ledger, including processing termly fees and extras invoices
- Accounting processes for Sales Ledger and Nominal Ledger
- Reconciliation of recharged extras to include; School trips, pupil recharges, taxi journeys
- Regular communication with debtors and debt agencies as necessary
- Month end processes
- Journal processing
- Prepare and upload data to the finance system
- Communicating with parents, staff and suppliers
- Raising ad-hoc invoices
- Application of output VAT on different supplies and interpretation of VAT legislation

The successful Financial Officer will have the following related skills / experience:
- AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified (would consider qualified by experience)
- Good VAT experience and understanding of VAT legislation
- Highly computer literate; open to exploring new digital tools
- Diplomacy, patience and clear written and spoken communication
- An interest in education and a commitment to the ethos of the school
- Experience working with WCBS, School base, Lightyear systems (desirable)
- Experience of having worked in a school environment (desirable)
